Captain Larson, Firefighter Fujitaki, and Firefighter Geiger from Fire Station 58 came to our school. We were able to interview them for our Community Hero unit.
Wow! How awesome is Captain Larson!!! We learned that Captain Larson is the first African-American women Fire Captain in the history of the Los Angeles Fire Department. She is a women who is changing history. She is an Agent of Change!!
Did you know that their gear weighs over 100 pounds! They wear a heavy coat to protect their body, a hood to protect their ears, a helmet to protect their heads, and a mask to breath fresh air.
Future firefighter Pride tries on the coat.
Firefighter Geiger shows us how he would save Firefighter Fujitaki if he was hurt or injured.
